YuuYaraq - Spirit Dancers

 

The dance group was formed at the Tundra Center here in Bethel. In March they lost their leader and most of the dancers were released, but the rest of the group persevered. Mary Wassilie volunteered to teach the dance group. They asked Karen Fisher with the Native American Alliance Foundation to dance with them and they have practiced everyday since. Dancers: Mary Wassilie, Edward Chief, Randy Romer, and Karen Fisher. Drummers: Harvey Pitka and Marie Riley. The group would like to thank Jim Luczycki, Cornell Company and Rebecca Luczycki for making Kuspuks.

The YuuYaraq-Spirit Dancers will perform Saturday at 5:50 p.m.
